Review :How same sky foundation is helping women around the world get their lives back

I came across this website same sky when i was reading articles online at Huffington post this morning and I was so happy because it’s exactly what i have in mind all along except my focus will be in Africa but who knows i may get the chance to travel around the world and get to see what’s on the other side.

The root of Africa’s problem is poverty. When you have a vast majority of women with little or no education forced early into marriage, starting family afterwards, they’re 99.9% dependent on their husbands who are mainly polygamist and yes, I’ve been there even with my educated father, a high school principal with  3 wives and 15 children at the time…you’ll be lucky if you get your school fees paid on time.

Thanks to my mother, she had a fashion industry on the side and so we fall on it multiple times when my dad didn’t come through.Any way i got my education, even obtain a diploma in fashion design.

I feel strongly that if we are able to tackle the root source of the problem which is getting these women to work or pursue a career, the rest will be history. If it work for my own mother, why wouldn’t it work for others? So i was excited when i came across same sky and their wonderful work around the world. But they’re only one of the few that are doing this and we need more hands on deck to eliminate poverty.

My plan is to get establish business entrepreneurs here in the US.Promote their business and share their success stories to motivate the youth who are venturing into the same business with shared resources. In return, they will help these women who are less fortunate to establish their business or learn a trade by mentoring them and financing their project in Africa.Let’s say if they train them in bead making, basket weaving, vocational skills among others. We can then look for  market here in the United states to sell their merchandise and put the money back in their pocket while expanding these businesses into other rural areas that need help.So when you buy from our shop, you’re not only helping women get a job but you’re also educating their offspring

With the money, we can even build childcare centers for these women while they’re at work.
Together the problem of poverty, early marriage, obstetric fistula, rape, teen pregnancy will be a thing of the past.
